Marking Time

Cross another day off the calendar.  Next Saturday can't get here soon enough, can it?

Brian Walton at The Cardinal Nation has up the TV and radio schedule for spring training.  Quite a number of games on the radio, which is very good.  I always enjoy firing up the XM radio at work and listening to the sounds of Florida.

An Astros beat writer publishing an article in the Sporting News likes the Cards over the Cubs this year.  Lots of ifs and buts and caveats, but I also think the Cards might be a little under the radar this spring.  I'm not quite to the level of proclaiming them the favorite for the division, but they should be a contender.

In other news, it looks like the Mets are going to re-sign Oliver Perez.  While that's not a huge surprise, Perez was one that some parts of Cardinal Nation were clamoring to sign.  He's been up and down in his career, so it was probably for the best that he stayed in a situation where he has had success.  Might have been nice at the back end of the rotation, though the Cards wouldn't have gone $12 million on him in any case.
